Titanium is amazing! How to choose TA1, TA2, TA3, TA9, TA10?
Titanium materials are widely used in chemical plants such as chlor alkali, papermaking, evaporative crystallization, PTA, etc. Titanium materials have strong resistance to chloride ion corrosion. Commonly used titanium materials in chemical equipment include TA1, TA2, TA3, TA9, and TA10.
Faced with a wide variety of titanium materials, what are their differences? How should we choose? This article will break down titanium materials one by one.
We can consider the commonly used TA2, TA9, and TA10 as a "pyramid" that gradually improves performance and cost.

TA1
Core feature: Industrial pure titanium has the lowest content of impurity elements C, H, and O, resulting in the best plasticity, toughness, and cold forming ability, but relatively the lowest strength.
Application scenarios: cladding of titanium steel explosion composite panels, transition layer of zirconium titanium steel composite panels.
TA2
The golden balance between strength and corrosion resistance
Core features: The most commonly used and well-balanced industrial pure titanium grade. The perfect balance of strength, plasticity, and corrosion resistance is known as the "standard pure titanium".
Application scenarios: container shells, nozzles, flanges, etc.
TA3
Core features: The content of impurity elements C, H, and O is higher than TA2, and the strength is higher than TA2, but the plasticity and corrosion resistance will naturally be slightly worse.
Application scenario: Reactor stirring shaft.
TA9
The ultimate defense against harsh working conditions
Core feature: Titanium palladium alloy, with the addition of palladium on the basis of TA2. The addition of this trace amount of "noble metal" has led to a qualitative leap in its corrosion resistance, especially in reducing media and crevice corrosion resistance.
Application scenario: In situations where there are dead zones and gaps that are prone to floating.
Often used for flange sealing surface lining rings, it forms a "golden partner" with TA2.
TA10
Core feature: Titanium nickel molybdenum alloy, based on TA2, with the addition of nickel and molybdenum for higher strength.
Application scenario: commonly used in erosion and corrosion resistant environments.
It is widely used in evaporative crystallization projects, for example, the heat exchanger medium is chloride ion salts such as calcium chloride and sodium chloride, which are used as coating materials for heat exchange tubes and tube sheets.
